Second hour: Author Paul Green helps Ed revisit the life and career of Pete Duel, the star of Alias Smith and Jones who took his life on Dec. 30, 1971, at the height of his television celebrity. Paul recently updated his book Pete Duel: A Biography with new information from not only Duel’s family and friends, but the many fans who have kept the memory of Duel alive, more than four decades after his death. Also in this hour: Tony and Donna remember the thirty-fifth anniversary of the death of John Lennon, while Ed plays an excerpt from his December 2010 conversation with Keith Eliot Greenberg, author of Dec. 8, 1980: The Day John Lennon Died.

Our first hour will remember the life and legacy of Robin Williams, the Academy Award-winning actor who originally became a star as a result of ABC television series Mork & Mindy. Our guests will include television writer/producer David Misch (Police Squad!, Late Night with David Letterman, DuckmanSaturday Night Live,Funny: The Book). David began his career in television as a story editor on Mork & Mindy.

Paul Green will join us in our second hour for a look back at the life and career of Jeffrey Hunter, the actor best known for his starring roles as Martin Pawley in The SearchersChristopher Pike in the original pilot episode of Star Trek, and Jesus Christ in Nicholas Ray’s King of Kings. Hunter’s sudden death in May 1969 was a shock to everyone who knew him and left many wondering what direction his life and career would have gone, had he lived. Some of those questions are answered in Paul’s latest book, Jeffrey Hunter: The Film, Television, Radio and Stage Performances, which we’ll discuss in our second hour.

Also joining us in our second hour will be author Mary Ann Anderson (Ida Lupino: Beyond the CameraThe Making of The Hitch-Hiker Illustrated). Mary also knew Jeffrey Hunter; her mother, actress Emily McLaughlin, married Hunter just three months before he died.
