Many fans of Tim Matheson were disappointed when his successful introduction in season 8 of The Virginian wasn’t carried over into The Men From Shiloh.
Matheson soon found work when he was added to the cast of Bonanza for its final season playing Griff King. He would follow this with work on the fondly remembered The Quest co-starring Kurt Russell. Matheson’s third Western series in a row would also prove to be his third one season project.
Matheson continues to be active as both actor, director and voice-over artist in a long and successful career.

Poor ratings. Everything in American TV is centered on ratings and the ability to attract sponsors. Many shows are canceled before they are given a chance. “The Quest” wasn’t given a chance – and as you know was popular in the UK.
No DVD release yet Michael. A few episodes are in syndication. I watched a feature length episode a few months ago. Great music and good chemistry between Russell and Matheson. It deserves a DVD release.

Tim Matheson should have been cast in both Bonanza and The Virginian right from the very start of both shows.He was and still is absolutely gorgeous and he’s a top actor as well….lol. I have watched many of his movies Lock Stock and Barrel,The Quest,Quicksand No Escape,Yours Mine And Ours,1941,Impulse and many many more all great movies.I have adored him from the time he joined the cast of Bonanza.He is a great credit to the movie and tv industry.
Yes Elene, I also like Tim Matheson. A pity he was only on The Virginian and Bonanza for one season. I expect you know he provided the voice for the cartoon character Jonny Quest as a youngster back in 1964. He’s been in the business a long time and is still very active.
Yeah I’ve pretty much stalked him in all the movies and tv shows that he’s done.The first tv series he did was Windows On Main Street I’m not quite sure but I think he co-starred with Robert Young.I’ve got stacks of his movies and different dvds of tv series that he had done and there heaps more to come yet.There are still so many more as yet that I still have to add to my TM collection.
